PROJECTS Fernando Holz Band I’m delighted to be playing with Brazilian singer/songwriter Fernando Holz in the Fernando Holz Band. He composes in the vein of Ivan Lins and Jobim but definitely with his own distinctive sound. The band also features Jon Simmons on trombone, Jason Davis on bass, and Steve Rose on drums. To hear his music visit: www.FernandoHolz.com To Sergio with Love: The Sergio Mendes Project Another current project is “To Sergio with Love: The Sergio Mendes Project” with Evelyn Rosenthal and Linda Roberts, voice; Steve Kirby, guitar; Jason Davis, bass; Marcos Santos, percussion; Steve Rose, drums; Kristine Kirby, flute. We’re performing our favorite arrangements of all the great Brazilian and pop tunes (Beatles, Bacharach) that Sergio Mendes recorded over the years. Starchild Every Thursday evening at the Acton Jazz Café it’s my pleasure to play standards, old and new, with singer, Gwenn Vivian, who’s also the owner of the Acton Jazz Café and usually Miki Matsuki on drums and Larry Roland on bass. www.actonjazzcafe.com Jazzed For a Cure Guitarist/bassist Mike Caruso www.mikecarusomusic.com started the "Jazzed for a Cure” foundation to support cancer patients at Mass General Hospital. Concerts and CD sales benefit the foundation. Singer projects It’s also my pleasure to collaborate with many other wonderful singers, including Hessie Swain, Anna Callahan www.AnnaCallahan.com, Beth Logan, Linda Roberts, Evelyn Rosenthal, Kaoruko, Steve Smith, Kathleen Kolman, Virginie Landre, Wendy Nottonson, and many others. And with some great help from Kathleen Flynn, opera singer/wife of Mark Shilansky, my own singing may soon be coming into the foreground. Holiday Extravaganza to benefit Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry This annual sell-out event in early December at the Acton Jazz Café raises money for Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Devens , MA. Musicians donate their time; local merchants donate raffle items. And patrons donate food, clothing and money. Thank you all! I also can be heard playing piano on all tracks but the last one on Linda Robert’s new CD, “ Love is Like a Cigarette”: You can find me playing piano on all tracks on Mike Caruso’s CD “Song for Amy.” Proceeds go towards support services for cancer patients at Mass General Hospital. |
